Jeff is an experienced farmer and executive with over 20 years experience in the agriculture, food and finance industries. Focused on permanent crops, he is both an organic and conventional grower of citrus and hazelnuts. He has grown olives and table grapes as well. Jeff is also a partner at Kachina, LLC where he manages farmland investments for family offices, endowments and ultra high net worth individuals. He also advises venture capital and private equity funds on the intersection of agriculture and technology. He has worked with ag tech, land and specialty food clients such as Belcampo Meat Co. and Sunkist Growers. Prior to farming, Jeff was co-founder and Managing Director of Ecosa Capital Management, advising companies in the clean energy, green building and sustainable food industries on financial and management strategy. He is also an elected member of the California Citrus Research Board, an industry-funded science and technology investment and grant-maker. Among other roles, he is currently Chairman of the New Varieties Research Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Research Development and Implementation Committee charged with commercializing or otherwise implementing promising innovation. He taught environmental entrepreneurship at Stanford University and social entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley in the Haas School of Business. Jeff earned an MBA with honors from Georgetown and a BA from the University of Miami, also with honors.
