Various outlets are reporting that Dupont Pioneer has acquired farm management software platform startup Granular. Terms have not been officially disclosed, however AgFunder is reporting a value of $300M.
The transaction marks a successful exit in the sector as Granular had raised over $24M to date in two rounds, the second being a $18.7M Series B led by Tao Partners.
Dupont sees Granular’s farm management platform as complementing its existing product in the space, and customer overlap could lead to further technology improvements. At GAI’s recent AgTech Week 2017 in Boston, the complexity of digital solutions in agriculture was cited as a primary barrier to adoption.
Granular and its executive team will continue to be based in San Francisco.
