Intel Capital has joined PrecisionHawk’s $10 million Series B round of fund raising. Intel, which makes equity investments in innovative technologies, joins Millennium Technology Value Partners, Bob Young, co-founder of Red Hat, and the Innovative Indiana Fund. PrecisionHawk, founded in 2010, uses small, lightweight, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect aerial data which is then processed and analyzed via cloud-based software to provide data solutions to customers across the agriculture, forestry, energy, government, and environmental protection sectors. Since the funding was announced, PrecisionHawk has launched Data Mapper, its data management platform, and plans to release a new model of its fixed-wing UAV in early 2015.
