Insight Investment has appointed former global head of strategy and business development at Olam International, Shankar Athreya, to fill its new head of farmland investment position. Mr. Athreya will work closely with David Beca, head of farmland management, and will report to Reza Vishkai, head of agriculture at the firm. Mr. Athreya will work to source investment opportunities that align with the firm’s criteria of the assets it advises. Insight Investment has a total of £363 billion ($555.3 billion) in assets under management across fixed income, absolute return, liability driven investment, multiasset, cash management, specialist equity, and currency strategies, and has made farmland investments in Romania, Poland, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand covering a variety of row crops, livestock and dairy cattle.
