Brazil’s Agricultural Trade Office has filed its annual report with the U.S. Department
of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Services Global Agricultural Information Network including forecasts of ethanol production, supply, and demand figures for 2013 and 2014. Brazilian production of ethanol for 2013 is expected to be 26.57 billion liters (7.02 billion gallons) – up from 23.51billion liters in 2012. In 2014 production is expected to increase to 28.96 billion liters. Of that production, ethanol produced for fuel will reach 23.72 billion liters in 2013 and will increase to 25.91 billion liters in 2014. Ethanol imports to Brazil will decrease this year equaling 200 million liters – down from 554 million liters in 2012. In 2014 imports will increase slightly to 250 million liters with the U.S. providing the majority of imports. In 2013 ethanol exports from Brazil will be 2.8 billion liters – up from 2.5 billion liters in 2012 and in 2014 exports are expected to reach 3 billion liters.
