Brief: Andros Foods North America to Invest $73 Million to Expand Fruit Processing Operation

Andros Foods North America, a subsidiary of France’s Andros Food Products has announced a $73 million investment over the next three years to expand its fruit processing operations in Virginia.

The funds will be used to increase the variety of fruits processed, expand production and warehousing space, add equipment, and enhance apple processing capacity for pouch products.

The investment and expansion of the company will also have a positive effect upon the state’s apple industry, which is the fourth largest in the U.S., providing additional marketing opportunities to the region’s apple growers.

The State of Virginia and the county of Shenandoah assisted in securing the expansion project through a $400,000 grand from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund, a $600,000 performance-based grain from the Virginia Investment Partnership Program, a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development Fund, benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program, and tax credits.
