Calata Corp. has stated that it plans to be the leader in the agribusiness sector in the Philippines through aggressive business initiatives in the coming year. In April Calata Corp. signed an agreement with Agrentina-based Agroservicios Humboldt SA to sell its products in the Philippines, and has just partnered with Chinese agribusiness giant New Hope Group (HNG) to pursue agribusiness opportunities in China. NHG is one of the largest producers of feed, meat, eggs and milk in China producing 26.6 million tons of feed, 200 million poultry, and 500,000 tons of milk per year with annual sales of approximately $8.8 billion per year. NHG has annual production capacity for poultry rated at 750 million and at 8.5 million for pigs and has eight overseas plants across Vietnam, Bangladesh, the Philippines, India, and Indonesia.
