This year Russia is forecast to be the world’s third largest wheat exporter, and as the region grows to become a major presence on the global wheat market Cargill Inc. announced it has invested $100 million to expand its wheat milling capacity at its complex at Efremov, Russia. The expansion will double the grain complex’s capacity to 500,000 tons of wheat per year. The complex which was established in 1995 and was Cargill’s first investment in Russia, produces starches for use in the paper and corrugated cardboard industries, and sweeteners for use in the soft drink, beer, confectionary and flour industries from corn, barley, wheat and other grains.
