Back in April 2023, GAI News shared the close of CropX Technologies’ $30 million Series C, led by Aliaxis SA, a global leader enabling access to water and energy through innovative fluid management systems, and including Edaphon, Finistere Ventures, NTT Finance Corporation, OurCrowd, Reinke Irrigation, Yair Shamir, and Victrix.

Well, not so fast! There’s a new investor joining the round. Newtree Impact, a Brussels-based impact investment firm dedicated to fighting climate change by backing revolutionary agri-food technologies, has announced its participation.

Originally founded in 2013 in New Zealand, the company offers a suite of connected digital technologies designed to enhance yields, optimize irrigation, and promote resource efficiency while providing visibility and tracking of sustainability practices. Its flagship product, the CropX agronomic farm management system, works to synthesize data gathered from the earth and sky to offer soil and crop intelligence, along with a stack of digital management tools through a user-friendly app able to track multiple fields and farms.

Over the past few years (and throughout the global pandemic) CropX has been diligently pursuing growth through both innovation and acquisitions. This strategic approach has seen it rapidly grow, becoming one of the fastest growing providers of agribusiness farm management solutions in the world, being deployed in over 50 countries and across all arable continents.

Newtree Impact’s investment in CropX is reflective of the two company’s shared vision for the future of agriculture – one that prioritizes sustainable practices and responsible resource management to mitigate climate change.

“We are delighted to welcome Newtree Impact as an investor in our Series C funding round,” said Tomer Tzach, CEO, CropX Technologies. “Newtree Impact invests in companies that productively disrupt agriculture for the greater good of the climate and people.”

“CropX is a perfect fit for their portfolio with our mission to transform agriculture through data-driven innovations. This partnership will enable us to empower farmers and improve food production worldwide for the greater good of the planet.”

With this additional capital, CropX stated that it will be positioned to accelerate its efforts in making precision technology available to all the world’s farmers, with an ultimate goal of achieving increased crop output, the conservation of resources, and a healthier planet.

“We are excited to support CropX Technologies in their mission to drive sustainable agriculture forward,” said Benoît de Bruyn, founder and CEO, Newtree Impact.

“Their innovative approach to agronomic farm management aligns perfectly with our commitment to rapidly create a more sustainable future. We believe that this partnership will drive positive change in the agriculture industry and ultimately make agriculture a part of the climate solution.”
