Former Monsanto Exec to Lead Ten-Fold Brazilian Expansion for Farmers Edge

March 15, 2016

Leading precision ag and data management company, Farmers Edge, announced the expansion of its Brazilian operations and the establishment of a regional headquarters in Campinas, São Paulo. The company has also announced the appointment of former Monsanto executive, Lucas Trindade as General Manager of Brazilian Operations.

Formerly with Monsanto’s technology department in Brazil, Trindade will lead Farmers Edge to grow its presence in the country to ten times its current scale by the end of 2016.

“In just two years, Farmers Edge has made a significant impact for growers throughout Brazil,” said Lucas Trindade, General Manager, Brazil at Farmers Edge in a company statement. “The team already has a strong track record of delivering exceptional service to farms, and we will continue to accelerate progress for growers while expanding our customer base in Brazil.”

Brazil’s agricultural market is one of the fastest growing in the world. The country’s favorable climate and topography have led the country to become a leader on soybean, corn, sugarcane, and cotton production, with projections that the country will reach a soybean harvest of 100 million tons in 2016.

Farmers Edge currently has 140,000 acres under management in Brazil, and working closely with its strategic partners, including Mitsui, Farmers Edge is bringing its Variable Rate Technology and Precision Solutions to some of Brazil’s largest agricultural operations, making farming more sustainable and profitable.

“As we continue to expand globally, Brazil represents another market that is in need of precision tools to enhance sustainable agriculture,” said Wade Barnes, President and CEO of Farmers Edge. “Our success in highly disparate regions, ranging from Brazil to Eastern Europe and the Midwestern United States, demonstrates that growers worldwide all need the same robust, accurate, and adaptive data technologies, and Farmers Edge is dedicated to meeting this global demand.”

Barnes explained plans for expansion and much more in a July 2015 interview with GAI News. Listen here.
