U.S.-based Treehouse Foods, the largest producer of pickles and non-dairy creamer in the U.S. and manufacturer of a wide range of foods and beverages has acquired Canadian Protenergy Natural Foods Corp. for CAD$170 million (US$150 million). Protenery Natural Foods Corp. manufacturers premium natural foods and beverages, particularly broth, soups, and gravies, in the Toronto area and had sales of approximately CAD$130 million for the twelve months ending December 31, 2013.
