Sean O’Reilly brings over 25 years of industry experience in agriculture, having held senior agribusiness positions in Australia, the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.
Sean is an asset director and the Head of MIRA Agriculture’s crop platform in Australia and a key member of Macquarie’s team of asset management professionals. He currently oversees ~115 staff – comprised of head office, farm managers and on-farm operational staff (both permanent and casual).
To develop the first MIRA Agriculture cropping platform, Sean and his team undertook diligence on over 800,000 hectares of arable land in Australia and successfully completed 27 separate farm acquisitions – combining these into 10 commercial-scalefarms. Through this work, Sean and his team have developed a strong reputation in the Australian market, with the momentum to execute rapidly on investments.
Before joining Macquarie, Sean managed operations for a 100,000 hectare vertically-integrated cropping and livestock company in Western Australian. Sean’s primary responsibilities involved development and implementation of operational plans incorporating supply chain management of crops and livestock (and associated management of staff); and research and application of new technology, and best practice farming methods.
Sean studied Agriculture in the United Kingdom and South Africa, and is uniquely experienced in a wide range of agricultural systems in both temperate and tropical environments and in the corporate agribusiness, family farm and small scale subsistence environments.
