Canada’s Canola Industry Set Bold New Targets for 2025

The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) has announced a 10-year plan to meet the global demand for healthier oils and to increase the profitability of canola for all involved in the entire value chain. Independent analysis commissioned by the CCC predicts that global demand for vegetable oil will increase from 150 million tons in 2015 to 250 million tons in just ten years by 2025.  The CCC’s 2025 target is to increase average yields to 52 bushels per acre for total production of 26 million metric tons to meet this demand. Three strategies have been established to reach these goals:

·         To provide sustainable, reliable supply by increasing per acre yields through improved quality rather than    an increased number of acres.

·         To differentiate and demonstrate the quality of the industry’s seed, oil, and meal at a competitive price.

·         To create a stable and open trade environment to enable the industry to attain the highest value free of        trade barriers.
