Scott McEwen grew up on a mixed farm in eastern Ontario on the border of northern New York State. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Francis Xavier University and his MBA from UPEI. He began his career in the automotive industry with Magna International in 1996 and while building a manufacturing facility in Brazil in 1999 found his love of real estate. Scott began appraising farms and rural properties in 2002. He attained his first appraisal designation in 2005. He attained his MBA in 2011 and since that time he has focused on larger investors and institutional investors in the agricultural and resource space throughout North America. Scott has been working with NCREIF firms on expanding data attributes and benchmarking opportunities in farmland and timberland. This work is on-going and Scott currently chairs NCREIF’s Farmland Sub-Committee on Appraisal. Scott worked for Altus Group for almost 14 years and recently he joined CBRE as Sr. Vice President and Sr. Managing Director of Alternative Assets headquartered in Toronto. He is responsible for building multiple service offerings including transaction services, valuation services, consulting services as well as debt and structured finance services for the Agri-Business and Resource sector for CBRE.
