The sub-Saharan Africa focused private family capital fund, One Thousand and One Voices, announced a letter of intent regarding a minority investment in Beefmaster Holdings Limited, a South African, vertically integrated producer and distributor of beef related products.
This is the second investment in the agribusiness processing and distribution sector for One Thousand and One Voices, after the fund invested in RedSun Dried Fruit and Nuts Pty Ltd. earlier in 2015. Located in the Northern Cape region of South Africa, RedSun has been processing and exporting raisins for 17 years, in which time the company has grown to become one of the four largest processors in the country with a capacity of 7,225 tons per year.
The South African Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy predicts that beef prices will increase at a rate of 6% per year through 2022, and considering the global economic, population, and dietary shifts that are ongoing, demand for beef protein is expected to continue to climb.
Beefmaster is located in the North West Province of South Africa, with assets including a leading abattoir, feedlots, logistics operations and retail outlets, allowing it to serve markets around the world.
