The $154.5 million, St. Louis-based Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners LP (ACAP) has made a strategic investment of an undisclosed amount into North American Natural Resources Inc., a Missouri-based bulk herb and botanical company.
ACAP was founded though the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business Development Program with nine initial investors including the Farm Credit System. It targets junior debt and equity investments in businesses in rural regions that are involved in the production, processing, or supplying of agricultural products. The fund focuses on addressing capital requirements for businesses in rural America by providing funding to support growth and job creation according to Tim Hassler, principal at Advantage Capital Partners.
This investment in the company (which does business as American Botanicals) marks the third commitment for ACAP since its launch in 2013. After closing on a $154.5 million round of financing, ACAP’s first investment was in Iowa Cage Free, an Iowa-based company that produces eggs in cage-free operations.
