Aquapesca Expands Agribusiness in Mozambique with $57 Million

French fish farming company Aquapesca is investing US$57 million to open a fish farming plant in  northern Mozambique.  Aquapesca Ltd. Currently operates fish farming plants in central Mozambique in Zambezia for the production of shrimp and crab for export to the U.S. and China.  The new plant will produce four species of clam, tiger prawns, Japanese oysters, and tilapia fish.  In 2010 Aquapesca exported 200 tons of shrimp to the EU and in 2013 the company exported 25 tons of clams to Japan.  This year, Aquapesca expects its clam shipments to Japan to exceed 100 tons.
