Production has begun at the $150 million, 70 acre fresh milk dairy that Arla announced plans to build in 2009. The dairy is the world’s largest and will have the capacity to process up to 1 billion liters of fresh milk annually that will be sourced from the co-op’s farmers. The dairy is the single biggest investment for the company and will provide a base from which to transport ilk to its customers in the London area.
