A host of buyers is bidding to acquire the 47,000 hectare Riverina farming aggregation in New South Wales being sold by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. U.S.-based Westchester Group, owned by TIAA-CREF, Auscott, owned by JG Boswell Co., and the Harvard Endowment Fund are all among the bidders said to be competing for the $100 million property. The sale includes Kooba Station at Darlington Point, Bringagee and Benerembah Stations at Carrathool, and Booberoi at Euabalong. The four properties which the Mormon Church bought in the 1990’s for $70 million produce wheat, corn, and beans, run sheep and Wagyu cattle, and include river water entitlements and bore water extraction rights. The four properties which were once owned by the Michell family who were major shareholders in the listed farming company, Tandou, are also believed to be an acquisition target of PrimeAg Australia in partnership with Walnuts Australia.
