The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) estimates that it will add up to $100 million in additional annual sales, or almost doubling annual sales, after being given easier access to the Chinese market. The umbrella body gained approval to have organic produce for export to China certified in Australia after being checked by inspectors approved by Chinese authorities. This marks the first instance where a foreign organization has secured approval to inspect organic produce bound for China. Australia is one of the top three suppliers of organic produce to China along with the U.S. and the EU, selling approximately $120 million worth of organic foods to the country per year.
