Brazilian Exporters Anticipate May/June Port Chaos with Soy, Sugar and Corn Crops

The bottleneck at Brazilian ports causing long delays and trucks backed up for fifteen miles will only become worse in May and June according to the Brazilian Association of Foreign Trade, AEB, as not only soybeans but sugar and corn will need to be shipped as well.  If there is a drop in international commodity prices – paired with the logistical problems of the country, it would cause Brazil to lose competitiveness while the high logistical costs and inefficiency are holding Brazil back from globalization and making the country less attractive to investors.
