Bunge Looking for Deals in Grain Milling and Oils

Bunge Ltd. announced that it is looking to acquire wheat, rice, and corn milling operations in the Americas and edible oil refining, processing and packaging plants which would process soybeans and canola among other crops in Asia.  Soren Schroder, chief executive officer of Bunge Ltd. states that the company will be looking for ‘bolt on’ operations valued at possibly bigger than $300 million but less than billions of dollars that would complement the company’s commodity trading and oilseed crushing activities.  Bunge’s announces comes as other commodity traders have been showing interest in expanding into high-value foods and ingredients.  Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the world’s largest corn processor, recently announced the purchase of Wild Flavors GmbH for $3 billion and Specialty Commodities Inc. for $170 million while Ingredion Inc. announced it bought Penford Corp. for $339 million.
