Donagh Berry is statistical geneticist at Teagasc, Moorepark, Ireland with professorship appointments at both University College Cork, Ireland and SRUC, UK. He is the director of the recently funded Science Foundation Ireland FutureMilk Agritech centre. Following his degree in Agricultural Science in University College Dublin, he undertook a PhD in dairy cattle genetics in collaboration with Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He is responsible for the research on the genetics and genomics of breeding in dairy cattle in Ireland and the development and implementation of national genomic evaluations in dairy cattle, beef cattle and sheep in Ireland. His main interests are in the derivation of breeding goals, genetic and genomic evaluations, decision support tools and breeding programs.
