Jeff is a seasoned senior executive with more than three decades of experience making and managing global farmland and agribusiness investments on behalf of institutional investors. He is the President and Founder of AgIS Capital, a Boston-based private-equity firm focused on farmland and related operating companies. Prior to launching AgIS Capital in 2013, he pioneered the launch and then managed the Hancock Agricultural Investment Group for over 20 years. During that time, he grew the business to over $2 billion in farmland and commitments. He also co-founded the NCREIF Farmland Index, the recognized performance benchmark for farmland investments. Jeff has served on the investment boards of charitable foundations, investment companies and pension funds responsible for billions of investments in both traditional and alternative asset classes.
His views on agricultural investment have been sought and shared by a range of media outlets including Barron’s, the Financial Times, Institutional Investor, the New York Times, Pensions & Investments, the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal as well as the BBC, CNBC, TV Tokyo and Bloomberg. Jeff was born and raised on a central Pennsylvania dairy and crop farm. He is a graduate of the Penn State University and Cornell University. Jeff is also a CFA charter holder.
