Steve is New Harvest Investment Management – General Manager Agriculture, an asset management company focusing solely on Agricultural assets. An agricultural fund established to capitalise on the unique opportunity in agricultural investment in Australia.
Steve possesses more than 30 years of farm management experience, covering many facets of the agricultural sector as both an owner and operator.
Steve was Head of Elders Agribusiness Investment Group (AIG). He was Responsible for the development and management of the Elders Agribusiness Investment Group (AIG). This targeted strategic growth through the development and implementation of appropriate investment strategies, products and funds.
Prior to this for 10 years, Steve held the role of CEO of Bydand Pastoral Co. (~AUD150m capital invested) and related subsidiary company Bydand Agricultural Management Services. He oversaw the acquisition, portfolio development, financial monitoring and strategy implementation for the group’s agricultural operations which included large scale cattle, sheep and cropping enterprises (both irrigated and rainfed).
Bydand Agricultural Management partnered with UBS Global Asset Management, Steve was responsible for the design and delivery of specialised agricultural business plans, projects and asset management mandates.
Steve led Bydand’s creation and establishment of QIA/Hassad Australia (~AUD500m capital invested), now one of the largest sheep and cropping enterprises in Australia. Throughout this mandate, he oversaw farm acquisitions, development of cropping systems, livestock purchases and marketing, executive and farm staff appointments, farm operating systems and financial reporting including preparation and presentation of farm plans, budgets, operational and board reports.
