Farmer’s Edge And Osmington Inc., Partner In Values And Investment In Agriculture

Global leader in precision agriculture and data management solutions, Farmers Edge, has announced the addition of its fourth and newest investor within the past 12 months, private commercial real estate company, Osmington Inc.

Since its launch in 2005, Farmers Edge has been transforming the global agricultural space through its trailblazing advancements in precision agriculture for every crop and every geography. The company’s Precision Solutions platform, which includes variable rate technology, field-specific weather monitoring, high resolution satellite imagery, and in-field telematics combined with on the ground expertise, enables farmers to optimize inputs, leading to improved yields while reducing the environmental impact of the farming operation.

“We immediately connected with the team at Osmington in a shared values system and affection for agriculture, not only in Winnipeg, the home of our headquarters in Canada, but across the Globe,” says Farmers Edge Founder and CEO, Wade Barnes. “We are proud to announce their investment in our business.”

Despite Osmington having previously invested in farmland in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Farmers Edge is the first agricultural company that Osmington has backed, according to Lawrence Zucker, President & CEO, Osmington Inc.

“What we really like about Farmers Edge is that they are really good, smart people, who are passionate about what they are doing and are well positioned with their technology to be disruptive and potentially change how modern farming will occur,” explains Zucker. “So that is why we made the investment. We like the values, we like the people and we certainly like what they are doing.”

The investment made by Osmington will help fund Farmers Edge in its pursuit to diversify its reach and network, its expansion in big data analytics across global markets, and the growth of its data analytics team.

“With global population growth set to rise to 9 billion people by 2044 from our current population of 7.2 billion there is going to be a greater need to increase yields to feed people and grain farming is where we are going to generate that opportunity,” says Zucker.
