The Minister of Agricultural Policy & Food of Ukraine reported that meat production in the country increased 9.3% to equal 2.3 million tons for 2013. The country also experienced a 62% growth year on year in meat exports to 109,000 tons so far this year. By the end of 2013 the country expects to see exports of 150,000 tons – nearly twice that of 2012. With continuing industrialization, achieved mostly through foreign investment, 61% of Ukrainian meat is now produced on industrial-scale farms. During the first half of 2013 Ukraine’s meat sector received a record US$76 million in foreign investment and Ukraine’s agribusiness sector as a whole received US$152.2 million.
