Global black tea production rose to 1,860.32 million kg from 1,703.85 million kg, marking a growth of 156.47 million kg or 9.18%. All producing countries except Uganda posted production increases and Uganda’s shortfall was slight at only 0.73 million kg. India was the world’s top producer producing 1,028.68 million kg – 76.23 million kg over last year indicating the highest gain achieved by any country. Kenya ranked second highest with an increase in production of 66.33 million kg for total production of 354.52 million kg. Sri Lanka was ranked third producing 278.25 million kg – an increase of 8.30 million kg. Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malawi, and Tanzania followed.
