India’s largest meat processor and frozen food producer and exporter, Allana Group, has invested US$20 million to establish a meat processing and exporting business in Ethiopia. Allana Group has signed an agreement with local firm ETG Designers & Consultants Plc for the construction of the processing plant on 75 hectares of land provided by the Ethiopian government in the Oromia Regional State. The integrated processing plant is scheduled to begin production by September 2014 with the capacity to slaughter 200 cattle and 5,000 sheep and goats per day, producing 75 tons of meat daily. The Allana Group exports frozen Halal buffalo meat, coffee, fruit, and other commodities from India to over 70 countries worldwide.
