Mondelez International Announces $50 Million Investment Opportunity for UK Coffee Site

As part of its multi-year investment plan in European manufacturing under which Mondelez International has invested US$1.5 billion since 2010, the company has announced a $50 million investment to build two new coffee production lines at its Banbury factory in the UK. The production lines will produce Tassimo single serve capsules to be exported to France and Spain as well as for distribution domestically in the UK. The plant also produces coffee under the brand names Kenco, Carte Noir, and Maxwell House.  The investment is part of Mondelez’ ongoing supply chain renovation and reinvention plan, implemented to help the company improve productivity and reduce costs in order to better capitalize on growing global demand. The plan is expected to produce $3 billion in gross-productivity savings, $1.5 billion in net savings, and $1 billion in cash over the next three years.  Prior to this investment, Mondelez announced plans earlier in the year to build a $100 million state-of-the-art biscuit factory in the Czech Republic, and a possible $100 million investment at its chocolate manufacturing site at Birmingham, UK.
