Nomva Raises $3 Million Series A

Cold-pressed juice and fresh snack company, Nomva, has raised a $3 million Series A led by Evolution Media Partners and Taylor Fresh Foods. Previous seed investors include Zico Coconut Water Founder Mark and Maura Rampolla and Suja Juice CEO, Jeff Church.

Nomva is targeting young, health conscious consumers, creating whole, organic, fruit and vegetable juice blends in five flavors – apple, blueberry, carrot, kale, and strawberry, which are high in fiber and are enhanced with probiotics and packaged in on-the-go pouches to fit active lifestyles.

“People don’t want to sacrifice the convenience factors of their day-to-day life, yet they really want to seek more of this ancient style of health and wellness," Caroline Beckman, Numva co-founder, told L.A. Business Journal. Using a system of high-pressure processing that does not need chemicals or preservatives, cold pressed juices are quietly gaining consumer and investor interest as the ‘less processed’ food movement builds. As of the beginning of 2015, the cold-processed juices market was estimated to be worth $100 million per year, according to the L.A. Times.

The Santa Monica, California-based company plans to use the funding to build out its team, to support its distribution activities and to increase its customer base.

One of the key investors in this round, Taylor Fresh Foods (Taylor Farms), is the largest producer of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables in the world, including a nationwide cold storage distribution network and relationships with a wide range of organic growers. The company plans to support Nomva with early support for sourcing organic produce, helping to manage its perishable logistics, and the company’s distribution.

“We’re big fans of the Nomva team,” said a Taylor Fresh Foods representative in a recent press release. “The next generation is driving a fundamental shift in our food system and Nomva has the tools to build a company that brings all of these values to life.”
