Peak Rock Capital Acquires Berner Food & Beverage

Austin, Texas-based Peak Rock Capital has acquired cheese manufacturer and producer of shelf-stable dairy-based foods and beverages, Berner Food & Beverage, through an affiliate for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 1943, Chicago-based Berner produces private label cheese dips, salsa con queso, alfredo sauce, coffee and latte-based products, and aerosol cheese products. The company is known for its diverse portfolio of high quality products, and state-of-the-art research and development capacity resulting from decades of cheese and dairy-based food production.

"Our decision to invest in Berner was predicated on a number of highly attractive characteristics of the business, including its broad product offering, best-in-class manufacturing capabilities and leading blue-chip customer base, said Robert Pistilli, Principal of Peak Rock Capital in a recent press release. “We look forward to working with this talented management team in pursuing a number of near-term and compelling growth opportunities."

The investment in Berner by Peak Rock will enable the company to leverage Peak Rock’s experience in facilitating growth to better create value for the company’s customers and suppliers. Commenting on the deal, Steve Kneubuehl, Chief Executive Officer of Berner, stated, "Over nearly 75 years, Berner has built an industry-leading reputation for product quality and innovation. Under Peak Rock's ownership, we will have the added resources necessary to further grow the business and facilitate product expansion."
