Pini Beef Acquires Polish Meat Processing Plant

The Italian company Pini Beef has acquired a defunct meat processing plant in Konskowola, Poland.  The initial investment is estimated to be worth US$3.4 million any the company plans to invest an additional US$22.4 million into upgrading the facility with the aim of expanding production space and increasing output.  Initially the plant will process 300 head per day but this will be increased to 1,000 head per day with the plant’s products intended mainly for export.  Pini Beef is owned by Italian businessman Romano Pini whose brother Piero Pini operates the largest pork processing plant in Poland located in Kutno.  The Kutno facility was established in 2010, has an annual processing capacity of 4 million head, and accounts for 17% of Poland’s pork processing market. The Pini family also operates meat processing plants in Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Slovakia.
