According to government data, U.S. ethanol exports for 2013 reached their third highest total on record at 621.5 million gallons. Canada was the leading export market taking 52% of total exports or 322 million gallons, followed by The Philippines with 51.5 million gallons, Brazil with 43.9 million gallons, United Arab Emirates with 39.5 million gallons, and Mexico with 23.6 million gallons. U.S. ethanol imports totaled 395.2 million gallons for the year – a decrease of 27% from 2012 and making the U.S. a net exporter of 226.3 million gallons in 2013 – a 24% increase over 2012 net exports. The majority of the imports came from Brazil with 86%, and the remainder were re-exports through the countries of Jamaica, Costa Rica, and El Salvador
