Unusually hot weather and a loss of acreage due to fighting in Donetsk and Luhansk in the east of the country will cause a 7% year on year decline in maize exports from Ukraine for the 2014/15 season according to UrkAgroConsult. Ukraine is forecast to harvest 25.9 million tons of corn this year compared with a record harvest of 27 million tons in 2013, and is expected to export 18.5 million tons – 7% less than last year. Worldwide bumper corn crops will also be putting downward pressure on market prices and will hinder Ukrainian exports. As of October 13th Ukraine has harvested 11.8 million tons of corn and has shipped 841,000 tons.
