Agravis, Danish Firms to Buy German Grain Trader Getreide

The German agricultural co-operative Agravis in partnership with the two Danish firms, Danish Agro and Vestjyllands Andel have agreed to take over the German grain trader Getreide AG.  Getreide is a leading trader of wheat, barley, and other grains in northern Germany.  The deal will include both Getreide’s grain and other agricultural trading activities that have a turnover of approximately US$1.3 billion along with the company’s animal feed operations with an annual capacity of 450,000 tons.  The deal will not include Getreide’s rapeseed crushing business or malt production business in Rendsberg, Germany.  Purchase figures have not been released for the deal which is still pending approval from competition regulators.
