According to the International Organization of Vine and Wine, global wine production is expected to climb 8.8% overall to its highest level in seven years on grape harvest rebounds in Spain, France and Argentina. In 2013 global production will reach 281 million hectoliters (7.4 billion gallons) up from 258.2 million hectoliters in 2012 – an increase of 3 billion bottles. Volume of production is expected to increase for the eight largest producers. Spain’s output could reach 40 million hectoliters; Argentina, 15 million hectoliters; France, 44.1 million hectoliters; Italy 44.9 million hectoliters, and the U.S. will reach 22 million hectoliters. Romania is expected to post the biggest gain – increasing output by 79% to 5.94 million hectoliters, followed by Hungary with a 44% gain, and New Zealand with a 28% gain.
