Australia has established, and the current prime minister has said he will continue a $60 million Indonesia-Australia Red Meat & Cattle Partnership fund which will help Indonesia develop cattle stations in West Nusa Tenggara and West Papua in Indonesia. Australian Agricultural Minister Barnaby Joyce states that it is in Australia’s best interest to fund and develop a strong cattle and beef trade with Indonesia. Indonesian state-owned giant PT Rajawali Nusantara Indoesia (RNI) is one company which night be running the stations. The company is assessing five Australian stations and is looking to buy up to 500,000 head of cattle. To provide a comparison of scale, Australia’s largest cattle company – AACo has just over 600,000 head.
