French dairy giant, Lactalis, has received regulatory approval from the Brazilian government to buy the dairy units of food processing company, BRF SA in a deal worth US$594 million.
The deal will be completed through Lactalis’ Parmalat subsidiary, and will include all BRF dairy facilities and its Batavo and Elege brands.
After the closing of the transaction, Lactalis’ market share in the majority of the markets in which it is present in Brazil will be less than 10% according to Brazil’s antitrust regulatory body, Cade.
