Vancouver-based Premium Brands Holdings Corporation announced it has acquired U.S.-based premium sausage maker, Isernio’s for US$12 million through its Washington-based subsidiary, Hempler Foods Group.
Founded by Frank Isernio in the 1980s, today Isernio’s produces chicken and pork sausage and rolls, international sausages, and ground meat, with sales of approximately US$14 million.
Premium Foods said the company was an attractive acquisition due to its specialty products, its niche market-centered business strategy, and its strong management. The deal will also give Hempler’s a second production facility, which will provide the company with much needed added production capacity as it has seen 20% growth within the past few years.
Premium Brands has operations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nevada, Ohio, and Washington State, and distributes to customers across all of North America. Its portfolio of brands includes Grimm’s, Harvest, McSweeney’s, Hygaard, and multiple others.
