Hylife Foods is a live pork production and processing company in Canada focused on Asian markets for fresh chilled pork, especially Japan. Senior Vice President of Hylife, Guy Baudry states that Canada produces 2% of global pork production but exports approximately 14% of global production. Exports represent 61% of Canada’s total pork production. Over the past decade domestic consumption has declined 17% while imports from the U.S. have increased.
