Cargill is investing $10 million to upgrade the food safety system, install more efficient equipment, and to expand the cold storage facilities in one of its poultry processing facilities in Thailand. The improvements are planned to be completed by July 2014. Cargill also recently completed a $110 million expansion of its second poultry processing facility in the country. The two plants are part of a fully integrated supply chain including breeder facilities, hatcheries, feed mills, grow-out farms, processing plants, and a product development facility. Combined, the two plants have an annual production capacity of 80,000 metric tons. In addition to its poultry processing operations in Thailand, Cargill produces agricultural commodities, animal feed, and food and beverage ingredients across a total of 10 locations in the country since 1968.
