Cargill to Build Wheat-Based Ethanol Plant in Germany

Cargill announced it will invest US$82.5 million to build an ethanol plant in Germany that uses wheat from an adjacent wheat facility as a feedstock.  The plant will produce 50,000 cubic meters of ethanol per year to be used by the European beverage, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. The facility will be located in Berby in Saxony Anhalt, Germany and is expected to be operational by the autumn of 2015.  Cargill has existing ethanol plants in the UK, the Netherlands and Poland.
