Chromatin Inc. Closes New Financing Round Adds Private Equity Investors

Agricultural tech company Chromatin, Inc. has announced the first closing of its Series E financing round raising the company $36 million.  Private equity investors involved in the round include GE Capital, Equity, BP Alternative Energy, IllinoisVentures, the State of Wisconsin Investment Board, and Adventures IV, LLC.  Wood Creek Capital Management, a New Haven, CT -based investment management firm focused on real assets, intellectual property and agricultural resources led the round.  Bob Saul, Managing Director of Wood Creek has joined Chromatin’s Board of Directors.  Chromatin, Inc. develops sorghum for both traditional agricultural markets and new applications. It provides high quality sorghum seeds to growers and producers across 20 countries where its seeds are planted on over 4 million acres. Chromatin will use the raised capital to support expansion and accelerate product development and differentiation for sales in both the U.S. and abroad. Macquarie Capital was the exclusive financial advisor for Chromatin in the financing transaction.  Including this latest round, Chromatin has raised a total of $70 million in equity.
