CHS Expands in Aussie Grains with Broadbent Deal

Minnesota-based CHS is building its presence in the Australian grains sector with its latest acquisition of a 50% stake in eastern Australian agricultural logistics company Broadbent Grain.  Activity within the Australian grain sector is picking up as more companies are making plays to gain a share of the grain export market to Asia.  CHS entered Australia slightly more than a year ago with the acquisition of a 50% stake in Agfarm, while Bunge announced last month plans for a grain export terminal in Victoria, and Noble, Cargill, and Emerald Grain have joined under the named Quattro Ports to invest $75 million into grain facilities at Port Kembla, New South Wales.
