Irish Dairy Board Aims to Double U.S. Sales by 2020 to $500 Million

Ireland’s largest dairy cooperative Irish Dairy Board handles more than 60% of Ireland’s dairy products with global revenues of €2.1 billion last year – 5% above the previous year.  Over the past five years U.S. revenues for the co-op have quadrupled to reach $250 million in 2013.   Now the co-op plans to double those revenues to $500 million over the next six years making the U.S. its fastest growing market.  Sales of butter have been growing in the U.S. after years of decline as consumers’ preferences shift toward the consumption of healthier fats and natural foods.  Irish Dairy Board which sells Kerrygold brand butters and cheeses is planning a U.S. national TV marketing campaign which will reinforce the fact that Irish cattle are grass fed unlike cattle in the U.S. and other western countries.
