In 2021, CHS and GROWMARK launched Cooperative Ventures, a $50 million venture capital fund focused on backing advancements in emerging technologies for the ag industry. In recent days, Cooperative Ventures has announced changes to its executive lineup amid the retirement of a trio of management personnel. Among them, Wade Mittelstadt, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer; Barry Schmidt, Executive Vice President, Retail Business; and Bill Covey, Executive Vice President & General Counsel have all retired from the VC arm.
Cooperative Ventures has named Jeff Lynch will assume the role of Executive Vice President, Retail Business, with oversight of GROWMARK’s eight retail divisions; Matt Lurkins has accepted the position of Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Grain; Karmy Kays will step into the role of Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, leading the Finance and IT divisions.
