Cobb-Vantress Invests $15 Million into Brazilian Expansion

Cobb-Vantress has invested $15 million through a two-year project scheduled to be completed in September to expand its farm production by 23% and hatchery production by 10% in Brazil.

Founded in 1916, Cobb-Vantress is the oldest pedigree broiler breeder in the world, and has grown to become one of the top global suppliers of breeding stock, distributing to over 100 countries, with Cobb-Vantress Brasil founded 20 years ago.

Under the parameters of the project, housing capacity has been expanded at the company’s two grandparent farms in Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais to allow for the introduction of the Male MX line, and hatcheries have been expanded to provide additional room to allow more flexibility in hatching dates and quantities. At the company’s grandparent farm in Itapagipe, production capacity has been doubled to produce two million breeders per year, and at its Guapiaçu hatchery, the entire hatchery facilities have been replaced, and 1,200 square meters of floor space have been added.

“This investment in expanding and improving our facilities will also enhance the welfare of our birds, which is one of our core policies,” said Idir Savoldi, production manager at Cobb-Vantress Brasil.  “With the latest advances in technology and automated controls, we can look forward to continuing increases in performance on the farm and at the hatchery.”
