Scientists from around the world are in Florida trying to save the state’s citrus groves from an insect-borne disease known as citrus greening. The disease has spread across the state in the last five years causing misshapen, discolored fruit with bad seeds inside. Growers have been paying out of pocket to fund research to find a solution. The spokesman for the Florida Citrus Mutual stated that a solution needs to be found within the next five to ten years to save the industry from destruction.
