Edyn Raises $2M in Seed Funding Led by Fenox Venture Capital

Oakland, California-based agtech startup, Edyn announced it has raised $2 million in seed funding in a round led by Fenox Venture Capital, and including Ideabulb Ventures, Morningside Group, Indicator Ventures and angel investors.

The new capital will be used, in part, to finance the retail rollout of the company’s newly launched smart irrigation controller, the Water Valve, which can be used with existing irrigation systems to monitor and deliver the appropriate amount of water to plants, eliminating waste. The funds will also be allocated to support the development of new products, access commercial industries, and to initiate the company’s global expansion beginning in Japan.

"I originally conceived of Edyn as a way to help farmers in Kenya grow their crops more efficiently through near real-time data analysis and recommendations," said Edyn CEO and Founder Jason Aramburu in a company statement. "This expansion offers a tremendous opportunity to extend Edyn's use commercially while maintaining its utility for consumer gardeners, as well as helping to reach sustainability on a local and global scale. Fenox Venture Capital was the ideal partner to help us forge those partnerships and lead the round."

Through partnerships with companies such as Innotech, Edyn will be available to famers in Japan, however the company plans further expansion throughout Asia and Europe.

"Edyn is uniquely positioned to address the agriculture needs of the growing global economy, particularly in Asia," said Brent Traidman, General Partner, Fenox Venture Capital. "We look forward to continuing the partnership that we've had with Edyn since its Y Combinator days to help expand in this fecund market and beyond."
